Happily ever listening to God

I feel like the question I ask so often on here is "where do you see God or feel God?" Because seeing is believing, right? What I don't think about as much is actually listening for God (plus most likely I haven't stopped talking myself so it's a little harder to hear anything haha). I've had such a hard time (at times) over the years distinguishing between my voice (and what I want) vs God's. But what I can tell you is I've been hearing Him lately. Really truly hearing Him. I'm listening. I hear Him say He's proud of me. I have heard Him recently tell me to REST. And that's the okay thing to do. The other day I was so exhausted and started to beat myself up for wanting to lay down while all the kids took an afternoon nap (normally that's the time where I have to push through my yawns with an energy drink and get as much done as I possibly can during their 2 second nap). And you know what I did? I did it. I laid down and took my own afternoon nap (I don't do that unless I'm really sick). And what I didn't do was make myself feel guilty for it or beat myself up. Because rest is good. Rest is okay. Sometimes it's just what we need to regroup and recharge. I know, I know it makes sense. But the way I do things is I don't rest, that's not okay. For me to be successful, I have to keep moving, keep going, and get as much as I possibly can get done in any given moment, but for what? Who tells me that? Past experiences, childhood, society? Maybe all of the above, but what I choose to do today is in order to keep myself on the path, I have to set up boundaries including some with myself and my past preconceived notions, because maybe the things I thought were true are not necessarily. Or maybe some of them are. I just have to keep an open mind. And keep the AND in everything. There doesn't have to be a right or wrong, two things can in fact be true at once in our "terrifying" Gray area. So, just for today I will feel good about myself, I can still be productive, AND I will rest. Happy Sunday y'all. Pick your feet up, open up a good book, or take a look out your window today. You never know what you could experience, what could come to your mind, or what you could HEAR.
