A Spa Day? I think I will!


Hey y'all! Here's to a "happily" over here. As a late Mother's Day celebration (an added bonus), the hubby got me a day at the spa (one that I hold my breath for when it comes around once or twice a year). So I relaxed with a facial and a massage, got me some lunch and a fancy mocktail, swam some laps in the pool, got my hot fix in the steam room and sauna, and now I sit by the hot tub reading in my books for the week and writing to you! (Oh, and I also drove myself here for the first time ever!) So this is the life, right! But this is just part of the life I get to live today. I am blessed to be able to have these things in my life today that help me be more present, be a better wife, mother, and friend. This is the kind of self care we all need! But not JUST a spa day. Yea that's the added icing on the cake, the cherry on top. But really what I'm talking about is what we do with that spa day. Today I'm choosing to relax, to not feel guilty, to write, to be, to reflect, to read (particularly about vulnerability, perfectionism, childhood, and being authentic), and to learn more about myself and be okay with.... ME. ALL of me not just the "me" I want you to see, but all of it. How we can truly inspire, is to be raw and real, something I didn't find out until I got sober. So, today I will do that for myself today. I will take care of myself even when it may be hard or uncomfortable. And here's a tip: when you are at spa, it softens the blow when you uncover anything uncomfortable about yourself. Haha So, I ask you...what are you doing for yourself today? I mean like really doing for yourself? To grow, to learn, to change, to be willing to be a better you.
